چکیده

COLEMAN, D. L., AND KATHARINE P. HUMMEL. Effects of parabiosis of normal with genetically diabetic mice. Am. J. Physiol. 2 17(5) : 129% 1304. 1969.-Adult diabetic mice (db/db) of the C57BL/Ks strain were joined in parabiosis with normal mice of the same sex. Little, if any, amelioration of the disease was observed in parabiont diabetics and no symptoms of diabetes were observed in the normal parabiont. Instead, the normal partners lost weight, became hypoglycemic, and died of apparent starvation within 50 days after surgery. In contrast, the diabetic partners gained weight rapidly and remained diabetic. The similarity of this response to that observed with normal rats in parabiosis with rats having lesions in the region of the ventromedial nuclei of the hypothalamus is discussed.

Reanalysis of parabiosis of obesity mutants in the age of leptin.

In this study we set out to explain the differing effects of parabiosis with genetically diabetic (db) mice versus administration of recombinant leptin. Parabiosis of db mutant, which overexpress leptin, to wildtype (WT) or genetically obese (ob) mice has been reported to cause death by starvation, whereas leptin infusions do not produce lethality at any dose or mode of delivery tested. Leptin ...

The Effects of Rosa canina Fruit Hydro alcoholic Extract on Oxidative Stress, Total Antioxidant Capacity and Haematological Parameters in Diabetic Mice

Abstract Background: Diabetes is a metabolic disorder with adverse effects on haematological parameters level, oxidative stress and antioxidant defence system. This study aimed to investigate the effects of Rosa canina (RC) fruit hydro alcoholic extract on oxidative stress, total antioxidant capacity (TAC) and haematological parameters in diabetic mice. <st...

Treatment effect of GABA on improve type one diabetes in NOD mice

Introduction: Gama amino butyric acid (GABA) is the major inhibitory neurotransmitter in the mammalian nervous system. The concentration of GABA and the number of GABA cell secretion decrease in diabetic patient and experimental diabetes model. The reported effects of GABA activation on insulin secretion from beta cells have been controversial. In this study we investigated if GABA administr...

Prevention of type I diabetes in nonobese diabetic mice by allogenic bone marrow transplantation.

An animal model [the nonobese diabetic (NOD) mouse] for type I diabetes features a striking infiltration of T cells into the pancreatic islets. This infiltration selectively destroys beta cells. Most of the T cells are Lyt-1+, but some are Lyt-2+,3+. Transfer experiments using parabiosis revealed that insulitis can be transferred within 2 weeks after parabiosis to immunoincompetent thymectomize...

Evaluation of Anticonvulsive ٍEffect of Magnesium Oxide Nanoparticles in Comparison with Conventional MgO in Diabetic and Non-diabetic Male Mice

Introduction: Some studies show magnesium has anticonvulsive effect in some animal models. Despite of the availability of well-studied anticonvulsant drugs, this evaluation was not carried on new kind of magnesium supplement, magnesium oxide nanoparticles (nMgO). According to the interaction between magnesium and convulsion, this study was designed to evaluate the effect of nMgO on strychnine-i...
